- The state of Georgia is getting federal funds to help reduce train-vehicle collisions in some metro-Atlanta counties. The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Railroad Administration will award $3.2 million towards Georgia's railroad projects. The grant will help make it easier for drivers to get around railroad tracks and improve crossings where trains block the intersection. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- Sandy Springs' annual Food That Rocks event is coming back this year with nearly 30 restaurants participating. On Jun. 8, guests can indulge in a dessert bar, delicious tastes from local restaurants, and bottomless wine, beer, and cocktail tastings. Participants can enjoy live music from The Geek Squad and watch cooking demonstrations. (Rough Draft Atlanta)
- In case you missed it, on Jun. 12, the Georgia Department of Transportation will begin its replacement of the Pitts Road Bridge during a year-long construction project. The closure will span Pitts Road from Colquitt Road to Stratford Lane. Roberts Drive and Kimball Bridge Road will be the next bridges to be replaced in Sandy Springs. (Atlanta News First)
