• Sandy Springs renames park to honor outgoing councilman (appenmedia.com) — Sandy Springs has officially renamed Windsor Meadows Park as Tibby DeJulio Park at Windsor Meadows, honoring the longtime councilman as he and two other veteran members leave office. At the year’s final council meeting, leaders also approved a bank drive-thru permit on Roswell Road, a $50,000 firefighting equipment grant application, and a $790,000 sidewalk-related settlement DeJulio opposed on cost grounds.
   

• Fulton County forges new animal control responsibilities after attacks (appenmedia.com) — Sandy Springs residents contribute only about 2% of Fulton County’s stray animal intakes, and city leaders recently heard how LifeLine Animal Project and Fulton County Police are reshaping animal control responsibilities. The county renewed LifeLine’s shelter contract while shifting field work to police, aiming for faster response to dangerous animals amid rising stray numbers and continued no-kill shelter operations.
   

• Cox, international nonprofits team to save ‘most beautiful place on Earth' (macon.com) — A Sandy Springs–based company is playing a major role in protecting more than 300,000 acres of Chile’s Cochamó Valley, often called South America’s Yosemite. Cox Enterprises, through its foundation, was the largest donor in a $78 million international effort to buy the land for permanent conservation, linking it to millions of surrounding protected acres and reinforcing the firm’s growing environmental focus.
