Annual Retreat Explores Express Lanes, North End, Transit

The Sandy Springs City Council's annual retreat will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22 in the third floor Terrace Meeting Room at City Springs.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The 2019 retreat for the Sandy Springs City Council will feature a packed agenda of items for elected officials and staff members to discuss.

The annual retreat will kick off at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22. This gathering, which is open to the public, will be held in the third floor Terrace Meeting Room at City Springs.

City leaders will get an update on its overarching project to revitalize the North End of the city and review its priorities for 2019. Updates will also be given on a myriad of topics, including water reliability, downtown development, recreation and cultural projects, public safety, transportation and economic development.

Sandy Springs Council members will also be briefed on a plan by the Georgia Department of Transportation to install express lanes along Ga. 400 and I-285, a feasibility study on transit options along I-285 and MARTA's operation.

City Manager John McDonough will also lead a discussion on phase two of the City Springs redevelopment plan. This subject will review the 2012 City Center Master Plan, and explore a hotel feasibility study, Heritage Sandy Springs master plan and a 2018 visitor profile study.
