Here are the top three stories today in Sandy Springs:
- Sandy Springs has agreed to apply for a grant that could support improvements at Abernathy South Greenway. The widening of Abernathy Road by the 14-acre park has impacted the stream and drainage system. This grant hopes to fix the drains that are overwhelmed with sediment and erosion. It also aims to get rid of invasive species that are habituating in or near the stream. The project is expected to cost four million dollars, including stream improvements, drainage, and additional amenities. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- Police report that thieves wrecked and ditched a stolen car in a Sandy Springs neighborhood. On Sunday night, police were on the scene at Northridge Road and Somerset Court following a reported carjacking. The suspects fled from the police and there have been no arrests made yet. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- The Fulton County DA's office has backed off its motion to disqualify the attorney representing the GOP electors for Trump. The DA's Office is still investigating whether there was vote tampering that led to Trump winning the election. The attorney Kimberly Burroughs Debrow was accused by the DA's office of unethical conduct, claiming that she did not notify her clients of potential immunity deals after letters were sent to the electors stating they could be charged with crimes. Decisions about criminal charges will be made this summer. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
