Mt. Vernon Bridge In Sandy Springs Closed Due To Crash

A tractor-trailer hit the Mt. Vernon bridge, which suspends over Interstate 285 in Sandy Springs.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Mt. Vernon bridge suspending over Interstate 285 is being closed after a tractor-tractor hit the bridge Wednesday afternoon, Sandy Springs city officials said shortly after 3 p.m. on Facebook.

"Additionally, a detour route has been set up and marked by public works crews. More information will follow as the situation develops," city officials said.

All lanes on I-285 east near Exit 24, Riverside Drive, were shut down due to debris in the roadway, according to the state transportation system, 511 Georgia.
