Dolan exited the car and tried unsuccessfully to commandeer a car from a woman backing down her driveway. He abandoned the attempt and re-entered his wrecked car while the SSPD officer was approaching on foot from the rear of the suspect vehicle.
Dolan then backed the car in the direction of the officer who jumped from his position to avoid being hit. Dolan then continued a short distance south until his car overheated and he came to a stop at Highpoint and Windsor Parkway. He fled on foot for a short distance until caught by the officer. He was then secured and taken into custody.
Patrick Dolan is charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Obstruction, and traffic charges including Hit and Run. The driver of the car Dolan hit reported complaints of pain but the injury is not believed to be serious. Dolan’s reason for the manner in which he drove was that his car overheated and he was on the way to his father’s house.
