North Spring HS Hosts Minority Male Summit
The motivational event was so successful that assistant principal Dr. Ebony Potts decided to make it an annual event at the Sandy Springs high school.
Last Tuesday, North Springs Charter High School held its first Minority Male Summit, a special inspirational and informational event for about 100 minority 9th- 12th grade boys.
The event was so successful that assistant principal Dr. Ebony Potts decided it should be an annual event. She held a similar event at Jackson High School, in Jacksonville, Fla., before she arrived at North Springs, last fall.
The Summit was open to all interested minority male students, who obtained a signed permission slip from their parents and teachers. The boys were divided into three small groups to rotate through three different presentations.
One of several panels was titled, "If you were my son," moderated by senior class president Allen Devlin, enabled students to ask questions of professionals in business, law, medicine, education, the military and law enforcement.
