Officer Injured, Suspect Arrested In Sandy Springs SWAT Standoff
A suspect is accused of shooting at Sandy Springs officers, injuring one of them, according to police.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA — An officer was injured, and a suspect was arrested, during a shooting and SWAT standoff Tuesday in Sandy Springs, police said.
Offices responded around 11:15 a.m. to Carroll Manor Drive after receiving a call about a shooting inside a home, police said.
The suspect, who was not identified, was accused of shooting at officers when they went into the home. An officer was grazed in the shooting, and the suspect then barricaded himself inside the home, police said.

SWAT officers then responded, and after the suspect was barricaded for about two hours, police said the suspect peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody.
The suspect was evaluated at a local hospital, police said. It is unknown if the suspect suffered any injuries in the shooting.

The officer was grazed in the thumb and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, WANF reported.
In an update posted to Facebook, police said the officer was expected to fully recover.
"We thank everyone for their support at this time," police said in an update posted to their Facebook comments.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist with the ongoing investigation.
