Here are the top three stories today in Sandy Springs:
- Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating a vehicle of interest in connection with the death of a 31-year-old man on Dawson Boulevard in nearby Norcross. The victim, Razak Ndego Iddrisa, was discovered deceased in a construction zone on Mar. 3. The exact duration of his presence at the scene remains unclear. The incident is believed to be traffic-related, with Iddrisa being struck by a white Dodge Ram while walking along Dawson. A security camera recorded the Dodge entering the area during the time of the accident. (Patch)
- The Sandy Springs Recreation And Parks Department is offering a two-hour program on Saturday, May 27 for children to explore the tools found in a doctor's bag. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to use a stethoscope to listen to their heart, lungs, and digestive sounds, as well as test their reflexes and understand the functions of the heart. Additionally, the organization is hosting several weeks of summer camp where campers can learn about various topics such as veterinary care, wilderness medicine, and sports medicine. - A private service was held in Jonesboro to remember the life of 1-year-old Nirvana Oliver, who was found in a pond in Sandy Springs. The child's mother, Asia Calabrese-Lewis, was arrested and charged with felony murder and cruelty to children. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Calabrese-Lewis walking towards the pond with the child, and she was off camera for six minutes before reappearing unclothed. The father has not been charged and is said to be distraught. Calabrese-Lewis remains in Fulton County Jail. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
