Power Restored to About 800 Sandy Springs Homes
Saturday's heavy storms cut power to about 1,700 Georgia Power residents across the metro Atlanta area.
The majority of about 800 Sandy Springs residents who lost power early Sunday morning had it restored by 7:30 this morning following last night's heavy thunderstorms, a Georgia Power official said Sunday.
Power was cut off to those residents at about midnight when the strorm felled a large tree in front of on Mt. Vernon Highway that snapped power lines and broke two poles, said Lynn Wallace, a Georgia Power spokeswoman.
The outages were localized to the Glenridge Drive area, she said, and the tree fell in an area near the intersection of Glenridge and Mt. Vernon Highway.
