  • A Sandy Springs man reported that while he was away on military training, he was informed that Georgia Power sent him a notice that he owed over $2,000. He found that someone accessed his Social Security number and opened an account in Decatur.
  • A woman reported that she received a package at her home from Newegg.com for a Mac Mini Apple computer. She didn’t order it. She contacted the company and found that someone used her debit card to order it and [seemingly] intended to intercept it at the door step.
  • A woman placed her resume on Craigslist and received a response from “Tony Musso” in San Francisco, who works at Syberlink. He wanted a personal assistant due to his “being out of the country.” He sent her three $945 money orders and told her to take her “pay” from it. She took the money orders to the post office and found them to be fake. She is concerned that Tony Musso has her address.

Arrests

  • On July, 10, a loss prevention staff for Walgreens on Roswell Road contacted SSPD following their internal investigation into a employee’s illegally activating nine gift cards. She was arrested after admitting the fraud/theft. The transactions totaled just under $700.
  • A woman reported that on July 11 she and her husband were arguing over a divorce when he assaulted her by grabbing her and shaking her violently in front of the couple’s 1-year old child. Afterwards, she tried to leave when he assaulted her again by spraying her face with a can of...pepper spray. A neighbor came to her aid and she was able to get in her car and leave. Her husband was arrested a short time later.
  • On July 12, a man noticed another man acting suspiciously, tampering with a power meter. Cops talked to the man and eventually arrested him for stealing an acetylene torch...The man was arrested.
  • On July 12, special ops detectives arrested a man on charges of Possesion of Marijuana. The man was wanted in Roswell for Armed Robbery. He was arrested on the warrant in Roswell and additionally charged for the marijuana.
  • On July 15, around 12:30 a.m., cops found a man sitting on the guard rail at Lake Placid and Roswell Road, an area known for drugs and robberies. Short version: They told him he needed to not loiter in this area and it would be good for him to head home. He cussed them out. They decided he should still go on home. He headed up on the side of Roswell Road but weaved into the roadway. As they stopped him, he got physical. They restrained and cuffed him. He had drug paraphanalia on him including synthetic marijuana and other items. He was arrested.
