Riverwood, North Springs Host First Joint College Fair
The college fair took place Sept. 28 at Ridgeview Middle School.
The Counseling Centers of Riverwood and North Springs high schools hosted their first joint College Fair on September 28th at Ridgeview Middle School. Over 60 public and private universities, colleges, and technical schools participated in the fair. Parents and students from Riverwood, North Springs, Ridgeview and Sandy Springs middle schools were invited to attend and participate in workshops on topics including College Essay Writing, Tips for the College Bound 9th and 10th Grader, and Financial Aid and Scholarships. Breakout sessions were also held for Latino students and their parents.
This inaugural joint event was well attended and enabled students to speak with local and leading national universities and colleges including Yale, Princeton and Northwestern, and representatives from branches of military institutions, as well as technical schools. This is the first time a joint college fair was held for middle school students and their parents demonstrating the increased demand to cater to younger students already thinking about their education following high school.
