Riverwood Service Club to Host 5K to Fund Nicaragua Trip

The Riverwood Runs For a Reason 5K takes place Saturday, Dec. 3.

The Riverwood Raiders Community Service Club is hosting the Riverwood Runs For a Reason 5K family fun run on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Heards Ferry Elementary school. The run is designed to help raise funds for the upcoming International Service Trip to Leon, Nicaragua scheduled for spring break in April, 2017.

The Riverwood Runs for a Reason 5K begins and ends at Heards Ferry Elementary and starts at 8:00 a.m. Runners of all abilities, ages, walkers, dogs, and strollers are welcome. Registration is $25 for Riverwood students and faculty and $35 for members of the community. To ensure a t-shirt and goody bag, participants must register by November 25th. Registration will also be available the morning of race day beginning at 7:15 am (t-shirt not guaranteed and race-day event registration is $30 for Riverwood students and teachers. $40 for members of the community). Students in the Raider Community Service Club will travel to Leon, Nicaragua in April, 2017. They plan to work with families and children in local villages and nearby schools, teaching English lessons, and helping assemble filters to provide clean water. This is the first service trip for the newly organized student club.
