Sandy Springs City Manager Appointed to National Criminal Justice Association Board

She is widely recognized as the "creator" of the Georgia Sexually Violent Offender Registry, the media statement said.

 

Sandy Springs Assistant City Manager Eden Freeman has been elected to represent the Southern Region on the Board of Directors for the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA). The organization represents state, territorial, tribal and local government on crime prevention and public safety issues.

“It is a tremendous honor to have been elected to the NCJA Board, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members, staff and professionals from around the country as we address the many challenges facing the criminal justice system,” said Freeman, in the annoucement.

NCJA is a national voice in shaping and implementing criminal justice policy since its founding in 1971. The organization works to promote a balanced approach to communities’ complex public safety and criminal and juvenile justice system problems, and works to coordinate juvenile justice, criminal justice and other federal programs so that limited federal funds are used most effectively. 

NCJA membership represents all facets of the criminal and juvenile justice community, from law enforcement, corrections, prosecution, defense, courts, victim-witness services and educaitonal institutions to federal, state and local elected officials.

In her role as Assistant City Manager, Freeman oversees Municipal Court administration, information services and grants management along with other areas. Prior to joining the City, she worked with the Administrative Office of the Courts of Georgia. Previously, Freeman was with the Office of the Governor, Crimimnal Justice Coordinating Council and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
