Sandy Springs Day Veterans Tribute On Nov. 9

The ninth annual ceremony will be held at City Springs, and will include three family-friendly events.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The city of Sandy Springs will once again commemorate Veterans Day with its ninth annual ceremony scheduled for Friday, Nov. 9. This year's tribute will be held at City Springs and includes three family-friendly events.

The city's traditional Veterans Day Tribute kicks off at 11:30 a.m. at Byers Theater inside the Performing Arts Center, with retired USMCR Colonel Jim Bacchus serving as keynote speaker. Bacchus served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Providing music will be the 116th Army Band Brass Quintet, and returning as emcee is former WSB-TV anchor John Pruitt, a U.S. Army veteran and Sandy Springs resident.

Immediately following the tribute, there will be a celebration honoring the 243rd birthday of the United States Marine Corps, including a traditional cake cutting. This celebration will take place in the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.

Sandy Springers are also invited to attend a family-friendly Veterans Day Concert featuring the Tom Yankton Band at Byers Theater inside the Performing Arts Center. A former Rascal Flatts band member, Yankton is a musician, singer, songwriter, and entertainer whose band frequently performs in Nashville. The set list will include popular songs as well as patriotic anthems. The music begins at 7 p.m. and you will have access to free-onsite parking as well as food and drinks for purchase.
