Uber Driver Charged With Robbing, Raping Woman At Sandy Springs Home

Sandy Springs Police have charged an Uber driver on suspicion of theft by taking, burglary, battery and rape.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — An Uber driver is facing charges after being accused of sexually assaulting and robbing a woman he took home, Sandy Springs Police said Monday.

Officers began investigating the suspected sexual assault and robbery after being notified on May 5, police said.

Police identified the accused Uber driver as Le’Myrious Monaye Dawson. Police said Dawson drove the woman to her home, robbed her home and sexually assaulted her.

Through the investigation, police said warrants were secured to charge Dawson on suspicion of theft by taking, burglary, battery and rape.

Dawson was arrested around 2:30 p.m., May 6, at the West End MARTA Station at Lee Street, police said. Fulton County Jail records show Dawson remained incarcerated Monday.

Search warrants were executed at Dawson's car and home, where police said detectives found several items belonging to the woman.

"The men and women of the Sandy Springs Police Department worked diligently to identify, locate and bring Mr. Dawson to justice. If any other agencies are working similar cases, please contact Det. J.T. Williams at (770) 551-6937," police said in a news release.
