Man Wanted On Attempted Homicide Charge In Douglas County Arrested In Smyrna Police Chase

A man who was wanted on an attempted homicide charge in Douglas County was arrested after trying to flee from a traffic stop in Smyrna.

SMYRNA, GA — A man who was wanted on an attempted homicide charge in Douglas County was arrested in Smyrna after trying to flee from a traffic stop, authorities said.

At 1:37 a.m. Thursday, Smyrna police officers saw a Honda Accord speeding on the East West Connector and they attempted to pull the driver over, who was later identified as Samir Aaron Moore of Marietta.

Officers chased Moore down the road and used a PIT maneuver to stop him, where he was subsequently arrested. After taking him into custody, officers learned he had an active warrant out of Douglas County for attempted homicide.

Moore has been charged with multiple misdemeanor traffic violations including reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and speeding, as well as one felony count of fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement.

He was booked into the Cobb County jail with an $11,220 bond, and bonded out Monday. He will now be transferred to Douglas County and answer for his attempted homicide charge there.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Moore's charge of attempted homicide stems from a drive-by shooting in August 2020, but no further information about the incident was available as of publication.

The Smyrna Police Department posted footage of the PIT maneuver and Moore's arrest on Facebook.
