ATLANTA – State Representative Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) and State Representative Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), as chair and vice-chair of the DeKalb House Legislative Delegation, congratulates Chief Judge Mike Jacobs, the State Court of DeKalb County and the entire judicial team on achieving the highest clearance rate among all State Courts in Georgia — a 165.44 percent for calendar years 2022 through 2024, as reported by the Judicial Council of Georgia.

DeKalb’s judges, court staff, the Office of the Solicitor-General and the Public Defender’s Office worked to reduce the backlog of cases that accumulated during the COVID-19 pandemic. For comparison, the second-highest State Court, Richmond County, reported a 117.02 percent clearance rate — which is lower than DeKalb’s achievement.

“As members of the DeKalb Delegation, we are extremely proud of this accomplishment,” said Rep. Davis, vice chair of the DeKalb House Delegation. “It is a testament to the commitment, diligence and collaborative leadership of our court system and support offices. This accomplishment should be celebrated not only by DeKalb County but across Georgia as a model of post-pandemic recovery in the justice system.”

“We commend Chief Judge Mike Jacobs and every individual who contributed to this success,” said Rep. Drenner, chair of the House DeKalb Delegation. “This achievement exemplifies how the government, when working efficiently and cooperatively, can serve the public good and restore confidence in our legal system.”

The DeKalb House Delegation extends its thanks to all involved for their continued dedication to justice, transparency and service to the people of DeKalb County.
