Man Injured After Being Shot By Chamblee Police
The GBI said the man was found in a stolen SUV in a pharmacy parking lot at Peachtree Boulevard.
CHAMBLEE — A 24-year-old Auburn man who was shot by a Chamblee police officer Thursday was in stable condition, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
The GBI said late Thursday officers were searching for a stolen Jeep Compass near Peachtree Boulevard and Chamblee-Dunwoody Road when they found the Jeep in a pharmacy parking lot at Peachtree.
Officers tried to contact the driver, identified as the man who was then accused of fleeing in the Jeep, the GBI said. While fleeing, he was shot and injured by a Chamblee officer, the GBI said.

He was taken to a local hospital and was in stable condition, the GBI said. It is unknown if the man will face charges.
No officers were injured in the shooting, the GBI said.

Once the GBI's probe is complete, the case file will be given to the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
