• Tucker Mayor Anne Lerner and council members sworn in at packed ceremony (roughdraftatlanta.com) — Tucker has officially sworn in Anne Lerner as the city’s second, and first female, mayor, with more than 150 residents and dignitaries packing City Hall on Jan. 12. The council also named a new mayor pro tem, advanced certification as a “City of Civility,” and decided on two Lavista Road land-use permits that will shape future business activity in town.
   

• Profile: Cardinals HC candidate Thomas Brown (revengeofthebirds.com) — A New England Patriots assistant coach now drawing head-coaching interest from the Arizona Cardinals actually grew up in Tucker and starred at Tucker High School before playing at Georgia and in the NFL. His journey from local standout running back to respected offensive mind shows how a Tucker upbringing helped launch a major football career now watched closely around the league.
   

• Kiewit Chosen as EPC for New 1,425-MW Gas-Fired Power Plant in Georgia (powermag.com) — Tucker-based Oglethorpe Power has picked Kiewit as lead contractor for a massive 1,425‑MW natural gas power plant planned in Monroe County, underscoring the influence of this Tucker-headquartered cooperative across Georgia. The Smarr Combined-Cycle facility is expected to start construction this spring, create about 1,200 construction jobs, add 30 permanent positions, and boost tax revenue for local schools and services while serving 4.7 million customers statewide.
