Suspect ID'd In Possible Murder-Suicide That Killed 3 Children In GA

The suspected Norcross gunman shared a child with the mother of the three slain children, police said.

TUCKER, GA — Police have identified the suspect accused of shooting and killing three children and himself in a possible murder-suicide Wednesday in the 4600 block of Britt Road.

Gwinnett County Police identified the suspect as Jose Plasencia, 56, of Norcross.

Police previously identified the three children as Arianny Rodriguez, 13, Carlos Rodriguez, 9, and Chadal Rodriguez, 11, all of Atlanta.

The Rodriguez children were found dead while an officer was conducting an area check around 1 a.m. at Lucky Shoals Park, police said.

After approaching the car, police said the officer saw the children and Plasencia inside the car.

The children's mother was at a hospital with another unidentified child, who police said was being treated for an unrelated injury. Plasencia was identified as the father of the hospitalized child, but not the three slain children.

A motive in the fatal shooting has not been released.
