Child Falls In Icy Pond, Gets Saved By 'Good Samaritans' In Lisle

The child "wandered" onto the icy pond Sunday afternoon, police say.

LISLE, IL — Good Samaritans saved a child who walked into an icy pond outside an apartment complex in Lisle Sunday afternoon.

The child "wandered" into the pond around 2 p.m. and was rescued by onlookers shortly after. They gave the child first aid and emergency responders arrived shortly after.

As a precaution, the child was taken to a nearby hospital.

“This was one courageous act," Lisle Deputy Chief Craig Gomorczak said in a statement. "We encourage the public to exercise caution around bodies of water and ice, as they can be unpredictable and dangerous.”
