Winter Storm Prompts Plow Prep, Closures, Cancellations In Lisle
See which closures will be in effect in Lisle and how the village is preparing for the holiday weekend's winter storm.
LISLE, IL — Several cancellations and closures were announced in Lisle and crews prepped to plow and salt roads a winter storm warning took effect throughout the area Thursday afternoon.
The winter storm warning went into effect at 12 p.m. Thursday and will extend through 6 a.m. Saturday for Lisle. The forecast calls for consistent snowfall, blowing snow, dangerously low temperatures and winds that may gust up to 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Lisle Community Unit School District 202 canceled classes for Dec. 23 due to the impending storm.

The following closures were also announced Thursday:
- Lisle Recreation Center, Lisle Community Center and Community Park Fitness close at 1 p.m. Thursday
- Lisle Senior Center will be closed all day Thursday
- Friday's EDGE PM after school program; if school dismisses early Thursday, EDGE will be canceled
Ahead of the snowfall, crews from Lisle's Public Works Department began prepping their fleet of 20 vehicles to salt and plow the village's more than 60 miles of roadways. The following roads are not in Lisle's jurisdiction for snow maintenance:

- Lincoln Avenue
- Maple Avenue
- Naper Boulevard
- Naperville Road
- Route 34
- Route 53
- Warrenville Road
- Yackley Avenue
During a snowstorm, crews prioritize snow removal as follows:
- Main roads that run through subdivisions, roads in downtown Lisle, bus routes, streets near schools and village parking lots are plowed first
- Secondary roads that feed into main roadways are plowed next
- Cul de sacs are cleared last
Once more than an inch of snow falls in Lisle, parking restrictions take effect.
