2 Rescued From Burning Car That Crashed Into Gas Pump In Palatine
A customer pulled a man and woman from the vehicle after it burst into flames Monday at a village gas station.

PALATINE, IL — A car erupted into flames after hitting a gas pump Monday at a Palatine station. Two people were rescued from the burning vehicle, according to the Daily Herald.
The accident happened at around 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at the Mobil gas station at the intersection of Northwest Highway and Palatine Road. A clerk at the station told the Herald that the driver of the car had just paid for a fill-up and was leaving when his car struck a pump.
The car then caught fire. Fortunately, another customer was able to pull the man and woman from the burning vehicle, according to the Herald.

The station's co-owner told the Herald that about $50,000 worth of damage was done to the station. Despite the extensive fire, the station was still expected to be open Tuesday.
