Coronavirus In Palatine: Trash Collection Updates, Blood Drive
The Village of Palatine provides updates for residents on trash collection and stay-at-home measures, and upcoming blood drive details.
PALATINE, IL — Governor J.B. Pritzker announced Thursday that he will be signing a modified stay-at-home order that will take effect May 1 and will last through May 30. According to the Village of Palatine, the governor indicated the modified order will include the ability for some non-essential businesses to open for online or pick-up services, limited elected surgeries at some hospitals (subject to defined parameters), limited services at some state parks, and the use of face masks/coverings will be required (for those over 2 years old) when in a public place where you cannot maintain the recommended social distancing of 6 feet.
In addition, due to the coronavirus outbreak and related collection changes, Groot will not collect loose or uncontained items, including whit goods, appliances, electronics, bulk items, construction debris, mattresses, cardboard boxes and furniture, and these items cannot be left at the parkway. All refuse must be put in your Groot refuse cart, or put in sealed bags, before they're placed at the curb for collection. Each bag cannot weigh over 50 pounds, according to the Village.
In an effort to protect their employees and to continue to provide curbside recycling, Groot is also requesting those households that have the coronavirus to bag their recycling and throw it in with their garbage. Groot hopes this will help prevent their employees, who physically sort the materials, from getting the virus.
