How did you get into the insurance industry?
I began my career with Liberty Mutual Insurance in 1986. I've recently transitioned to Comparion Insurance Agency, a Liberty Mutual Company, to offer more options. I serve clients in Rockford, IL; Hoffman Estates, IL; Suburbs of Chicago, IL. My goal is providing you with quality coverage at a fair price. What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
I absolutely believe that taking the time to really listen and customizing my client's coverage to best fit their family's needs is key. There is nothing more rewarding than to hear, "No one has ever explained that to me before?", or "I didn't know this was even available." While customers appreciate the savings, they also need to know how the policy will provide that important coverage for them in the event of a loss, and will it be enough?
What’s something you wish everyone knew about insurance?
I wish more people would focus on carrying adequate Life Insurance for their families. It is often far more affordable than expected. If you're financially responsible for someone, you owe it to them to carry Life Insurance. ~ While Group Life Coverage is inexpensive, it often is subject to changes by the discretion of the employer as they own it and control it.
What's something you wish everyone knew about working with a local agent?
A local insurance agent will shop for the best combination of coverage, service and price! A local representative is someone who has state specific knowledge and can offer a better value than you may find on your own or from an online representative out of state. The most important benefit of having a local representative is they get to know your family and with that knowledge, they can provide the coverage that best suits your needs. ~
What factors should someone consider when exploring their insurance options?
There are many factors to consider when shopping for your insurance. The most important factor is having the proper blend of coverage to adequately protect your assets. Educating the client as to how the coverage limits impact them financially in the event of a loss. Often quoting apples to apples may not be the best option for them in the event their limits are too low with their current carrier. For example, if the client has youthful operators who have higher trends for losses, perhaps an Umbrella Policy would be recommended. ~
What would you tell someone who’s on the fence about getting a personalized insurance policy quote?
A new proposal is beneficial to not only save on premium, but to see if you have experienced family changes along the way that may require a review. Also, there are many opportunities for savings that customers are often not aware of. 1) You may now have a son or daughter away at school over 100 miles without immediate access to a vehicle. 2) You did a new addition on your home that requires some updates on the insurance. 3) You put on a new roof and were unaware of the significant savings it applied to your Home Policy. There is no cost to complete a full review and it can present hundreds of dollars in savings. ~
What do you like most about the Hoffman Estates & Rockford area?
My hometown of Rockford is known for its great historical and cultural venues. We are best known for the Coronado Theatre, Rockford IceHogs, our professional hockey team affiliated with the Chicago Blackhawks, Japanese Gardens, the Burpee Museum of Natural History, Tinker Swiss Cottage (many more) and one of my favorite places, Midway Village which is close to home and offers beautiful trails to walk, WW II reenactments, etc.,! I love the small town feel and the people who make up our town are the best around!
What’s your favorite restaurant in the Hoffman Estates & Rockford area?
My favorite restaurant in my town has to be Lino's! As you might have guessed, it is an atmospheric old Italian restaurant that even has a leaning tower-inspired decor. The menu is amazing! An old time family favorite for over 50 years!
What’s one hidden gem in the Hoffman Estates & Rockford area that everyone should know about?
Rockford's City Market is a seasonal venue downtown on Friday evenings from May until Labor Day! There are many unique food vendors, artists, makers, local musicians, and craft beers from local breweries. There is truly something there for everyone to enjoy!
