Music On Stage Production Receives Two Award Nominations
Music On Stage, Palatine's Community Theatre, was nominated for two Lou Awards for its 2025 production of "Fiddler on the Roof."
Music On Stage, a 69-year-old Community Theatre in Palatine, IL, has been recognized for its 2025 production of "Fiddler on the Roof" with two Lou Award Nominations: Marty Karlin for Best Music Director, and Mark Burrows for best Costume Design.
The Lou Awards, now in their sixth year, are given to recognize theatrical achievements in the western suburbs of Chicagoland. Productions are visited on their opening night by three members of the Lou Awards Nominating Committee, and if the reviewers feel there is merit for a nomination, the show is visited by several more reviewers over the course of its run. This is Music On Stage's first year of eligibility for the Lou Awards.
"These nominations recognize the artistry and dedication behind MOS' latest season, and we are very proud of our artists," said Kathy Heinze, MOS' newly elected Board Chair. "We are thrilled to see our creative team celebrated in this way, and we’re grateful to our volunteers, performers, and loyal audiences who make every performance possible."

"I've been fortunate over the years to work on great shows with countless talented actors and Production Staff," said Karlin, who was nominated twice this year. "My only goal was to bring out the best in myself and others and have fun in doing so. To be nominated for a Lou Award is a real honor."
This is Burrows' third nomination, having previously been nominated for two productions in 2023. "In preparation I researched the original production designs by Patricia Zipprodt, and was surprised to learn she had used a lot of color and pattern for the villagers, which I tried to emulate in the design choices I made."

Karlin will next be leading the music department for MOS' 2026 production of "Lionel Bart's Oliver!" and Burrows will be designing the costumes for their upcoming production of "Elf the Musical" this November. Tickets for both productions are on sale now at www.musiconstage.org
The winners will be announced at the Lou Awards Award Ceremony, which will take place on October 5 at Cutting Hall in Palatine.
