Property Tax Exemption applications now available
Property tax exemption applications for Palatine Township residents are now available for the 2024 tax year at the Township office.

Property tax exemption applications for Palatine Township residents are now available for the 2024 tax year at the Township assessor’s office at Palatine Township Center 721 South Quentin Road in Palatine.
Residents of the Township can visit the Palatine Township Assessor’s office to verify their current exemptions and, if necessary, apply for exemptions. “We can verify which exemptions you have currently,” said Bill Pohlman, Palatine Township Assessor. “If you need to file for an exemption we can help fill out the form and then we’ll submit it to Cook County.”
The Homeowner exemption, available to all owner-occupied homes, will automatically be renewed for those who received it last year. In addition, recipients of the Senior and the People with Disabilities exemptions will have their exemptions automatically renewed this year. Individuals who purchased their homes in 2023 will have to apply this year for the 2024 Homeowner exemption.

The Senior Freeze and all other exemptions need to be reapplied for each year. The Senior Freeze provides seniors with additional savings if the combined income of all members of the household is $65,000 or less, and if the senior has been an owner-occupant of the property since January 1, 2024. A list of all exemptions is available on the Township web site under Assessor.
A new exemption is available to residents this year. The Exemption for World War II Veterans is open to individuals who served in US armed forces during World War II and own a home. If the veteran is deceased, the surviving spouse may be eligible for the exemption.

Savings from all property tax exemptions will appear on the second installment of 2024 tax bills, which will be mailed later this year. Township taxpayers with questions about exemptions or needing help applying for them should feel free to call the Palatine Township Assessor’s office.
Palatine Township covers a six square mile area South of Lake Cook Road in Palatine, North of Central Avenue in Schaumburg, East of Huntington Boulevard in Hoffman Estates and West of Wilke Road in Arlington Heights.
