Itasca, IL – Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) presented the Itasca Fire Protection District with $2.5 million in federal community project funding he secured to construct a new fire station. The funding, secured as part of the bipartisan government spending bill passed by Congress in March, will go towards building the new station and will widen the reach of the Itasca Fire Protection District, improving public safety and cutting emergency response times.

“When it comes to saving lives in an emergency, every second counts,” Congressman Krishnamoorthi said. “By building this new station, the Itasca Fire Protection District will be able to respond to emergency situations faster and more efficiently, potentially saving lives and making the entire Itasca community safer. I was proud to secure this funding for our first responders and look forward to visiting the new facility once construction is completed.”

The new station, which will be located at 1295 N. Arlington Heights Road in Itasca, will allow the District to serve more of the Village and surrounding townships, including parts of Elk Grove Village, Schaumburg, and Wood Dale. Congressman Krishnamoorthi was joined by Itasca Fire Protection District Chief John Schneidwind, Itasca Fire Protection District Board President Christopher Kunze, and Itasca Mayor Jeff Pruyn during the announcement.
