Smoke Alarm Credited In Palatine Condo Fire
The Palatine Fire Department has some reminders for residents after the Sunday morning fire at this address.
PALATINE, IL — The Palatine Fire Department wants to remind everyone that smoke alarms save lives after one alerted people in the 100 block of W. Brandon Court to a fire Sunday morning, the Daily Herald reported. A news release said the fire department responded to a fire reported at 9:38 a.m. at the address, and when crews got there, a resident told them there was a fire in unit H, according to the Daily Herald. When crews got to the second floor, there was smoke in the hallway, and smoke and flames inside the unit, the news report added.
The fire was contained to the condo's laundry room and hallway, according to the Daily Herald. Crews searched the structure and determined everyone already evacuated, and the fire was under control at 10:16 a.m. No one was injured and there is no word on the amount of damage or the cause of the fire, the news report said.
According to the Daily Herald, the fire department also reminds everyone to make sure your smoke alarms are tested every month and are less than 10 years old.
