US Senate Passes Krishnamoorthi Bill to Rename St. Charles Post Office
U.S. Senate Unanimously Passes Krishnamoorthi's Bill to Rename St. Charles Post Office the Veterans of the Vietnam War Memorial Post Office
WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi’s legislation to rename the St. Charles East Side Station Post Office as the Veterans of the Vietnam War Memorial Post Office passed the Senate by unanimous consent. The legislation, which also unanimously passed the House 390-0 in October, will now proceed to President Joe Biden for his signature and become law.
“I am grateful to Senators Duckworth and Durbin for shepherding my bill to unanimous passage in the Senate,” Congressman Krishnamoorthi said. “By renaming the post office in St. Charles after the veterans who bravely served our country during the Vietnam War, it is my hope that our community will be reminded of the sacrifices made by those men and women in uniform every time they visit the post office. I look forward to President Biden signing my bill into law soon, and to joining with local veterans in St. Charles in the coming months to celebrate the renaming of the post office in their honor.”
Congressman Krishnamoorthi introduced this post office renaming bill on March 29th, 2023, in honor of National Vietnam War Veterans Day with the support of local leaders and veterans groups from across Illinois’ Eighth Congressional District. The legislation has received praise from the Department of Illinois Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander Bobby Welch, the Coalition of Veterans Organizations Board of Directors, St. Charles Mayor Lora Vitek, and others.
