Homeless Man Beat Juvenile At Football Field In St. Charles: Police

ST. CHARLES, IL — A homeless man faces charges for allegations he beat a juvenile at a football field in St. Charles Saturday afternoon.
The juvenile was using the football field at a middle school in the 700 block of West Main Street at about 2 p.m. when he was approached by the man, who was later identified as Anderson Contreras, 21, according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.
Police say Contreras beat the juvenile. The juvenile told police he did not know Contreras and said the attack was unprovoked, according to the news release.

After he hit the child, Contreras ran west from the area, according to police. A St. Charles Police Department officer responded and tracked down Contreras, who was located in the 1300 block of West Main Street. Contreras fled the officer on foot but was found and taken into custody a short time later, police said.
He has since been charged with two counts of aggravated battery in a public way, a Class 3 felony; battery causing bodily harm; battery making physical contact; and resisting a peace officer.
