Mom Of St. Charles Girl Hurt In May Hit And Run Sues Driver

The man accused in the St. Charles park crash was indicted on June 26 on three felony counts, reports said.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A St. Charles Township man is being sued for more than $50,000 by the mother of a young girl he's accused of hitting with his truck before reportedly driving away on Mother's Day. According to Kane County Chronicle, 7-year-old Lexi Hanson's mom, Jessica Hanson, filed the lawsuit in Kane County on July 17, seeking damages against 42-year-old Brian Quartuccio.

Quartuccio pleaded not guilty to felony charges in the May 12 crash that took place around 1 p.m. in the Valley View area, according to the news report.

Lexi, a student at Anderson Elementary School in St. Charles, was airlifted after the hit and run to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, and suffered several broken bones, a spinal injury, abrasions and mental scarring, her aunt wrote on a GoFundMe page, which was set up to help cover Lexi's medical costs.

Quartuccio turned himself into authorities a day later. However, his bond — originally set at $500,000 — was reduced to $350,000 during the May 28 hearing, according to online jail records. A family member apparently posted 10 percent of that bail, or $35,000, and Quartuccio was released from jail, Kane County Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Patrick Gengler told Patch in an e-mail response. As part of the conditions of his release, Tengler ordered that Quartuccio wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet and remain at home from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 am., according to the Kane County Chronicle.
