KANE COUNTY, IL — The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating after a small plane crashed onto Reagan Memorial Tollway on westbound I-88 in Kane County at about 4 p.m. Monday, Illinois State Police said, according to WLS-TV. According to police, the plane's wing clipped a GMC Canyon as it reportedly tried an emergency landing before coming to rest in a grassy median, WLS-TV said. Authorities reported the plane's pilot — the only passenger — suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police said the driver of the GMC wasn't injured, adding that there was minor damage to the vehicle.

The plane was registered to a Wheaton resident, and took off from Waukegan Airport and headed to Aurora, when the pilot reported having engine trouble, according to state police.
