ST. CHARLES, IL — A 45-year-old St. Charles man has been found guilty of sexual assault in connection with a 2019 home invasion in which a jury determined he assaulted a woman as she was asleep on her couch.

Jason A. Carter was found guilty of felony criminal sexual assault and two counts of home invasion by a jury, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Moser announced on Wednesday.

The jury’s decision comes three years after police said that Carter heard the victim and her boyfriend arrive home around 2 a.m. on June 16, 2019, at a nearby house. After the victim’s boyfriend left the residence shortly after arriving, police said that Carter entered the residence, saw the victim sleeping on the couch, and sexually assaulted her.
