Kendall County Sheriff Will Intensify Speed Enforcement In July

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with local agencies for the "Speeding Catches Up With You" enforcement campaign.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Kendall County Sheriff's Office will intensify its enforcement of posted speed limits for the majority of July.

From July 8-31, the sheriff's office and more than 200 Illinois law enforcement agencies are partnering for the statewide effort to reduce speeding, according to a news release. Drivers should also expect increased enforcement of other traffic violations.

Drivers speeding will be stopped and ticketed, with the ultimate goal being to save lives, officials said.

"In recent years, we've seen an increase in careless and reckless driving," Undersheriff Bobby Richardson said in a statement. "No matter how skilled you think you are behind the wheel, speeding is dangerous. Speed limits are not suggestions — they're the law."

The enforcement is part of the "Speeding Catches Up With You" campaign, paid for using federal safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
