Around Town: Yorkville's Raging Waves Water Park Serving Up Fun, Community Support

The water park, one of Illinois' largest, features a wide variety of attractions and rides.

Yorkville’s 45-acre Raging Waves has people coming from near and far to spend a day frolicking in the sun.

The water park, one of Illinois’ largest, features a wide variety of attractions and rides, including Crocodile Mile, a family raft ride, The Great Barrier Reef, a wave pool with six foot waves and The Ol' Billabong swimming area.

Children in kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to Plunge into Fitness this spring as Raging Waves Waterpark joins the battle against childhood obesity. The fitness initiative, which requires a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise a day and totaling 25 hours for the seven week period, runs Feb. 18 through April 15. Each child completing the program requirements during this seven-week period will receive a free Raging Waves full day admission pass.

Of late, it has even become a wedding venue. Last June, Samantha Kolar wore a bikini underneath her traditional wedding dress and veil so she and her better half could properly take the plunge as the first couple to get married at Raging Waves water park.

Raging Waves is located at 4000 N. Bridge St. Full-day and seasonal passes are available. Prices to the park can be found by clicking here.
