Barricaded Person Dies By Suicide After Firing At Police: Officers

A barricaded person died by suicide in Baltimore County. Police said the person shot at officers, sparking nearby school lockdowns.

DUNDALK, MD — The person who barricaded themself inside a Dundalk home and shot at police is dead, officers said Tuesday.

Authorities said the person appeared to have taken their own life inside the home. Police have not released the person's name.

No officers or bystanders were injured during the hours-long stand-off that locked down several nearby schools.

Authorities said they were called around 7:30 a.m. to the 2500 block of Gray Manor Terrace for "a prior firearms discharge."

Police said "a nearby resident" fired at them while they were investigating the initial call.

Officers said they returned fire and called for a barricade.

Representatives from Harford County, Baltimore City, the Maryland State Police, the ATF and the FBI also responded to the scene.

At 1 p.m., authorities announced that the barricade had ended.

Police said Battle Grove Elementary School, Charlesmont Elementary School and General John Stricker Middle School were on lockdown. Officers added that Battle Monument School was on lockout.

Charlesmont Elementary, General John Stricker Middle and Battle Monument School are all about 0.9 miles from the scene. Battle Grove Elementary School is 2.1 miles away.
