Dundalk Amazon Driver Arrested After Hit-And-Run In Baltimore: Police

A Dundalk Amazon driver was arrested after a Baltimore City hit-and-run caught on video, police said. He no longer delivers for Amazon.

DUNDALK, MD — An Amazon driver turned himself in to the Baltimore County Police Department after a pedestrian hit-and-run in Baltimore City, officers announced Thursday.

Authorities identified the suspect as 26-year-old Jerome Allan Young Jr. of Dundalk.

The Baltimore Police Department accused Young of hitting a 29-year-old female pedestrian around 9:29 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South Chester Street. That's located in the Butcher's Hill neighborhood near Patterson Park.

WJZ said it obtained video showing the driver hitting a pedestrian, hesitating as she cried out and continuing to drive over her with the back wheels of the van. Police told WJZ the driver stopped the van, checked on the victim, got back in the vehicle and drove off.

The woman was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, WJZ reported.

"This is a terrible incident and we're fully supporting law enforcement as they continue their investigation," an Amazon spokesperson said, according to WJZ. "The individual in question is no longer delivering to Amazon customers."

Court records show that a judge issued an arrest warrant for Young on Wednesday.

The case file says Young faces a felony charge of first-degree assault and misdemeanor charges of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Records say Young also got six tickets related to reckless and negligent driving and fleeing the scene.
