MARYLAND — About 420 boys were named Liam and 250 girls were named Olivia last year in Maryland, making them 2023’s most popular baby names, according to data recently released by the Social Security Administration.

Here are the top 10 female names and the number of times they were used in Maryland last year:

  2. Emma (221)
  3. Charlotte (213)
  4. Sophia (209)
  5. Mia (207)
  6. Amelia (174)
  7. Ava (173)
  8. Isabella (160)
  9. Harper (145)
  10. Zoe (143)

These were the top 10 male names and the number of times they ere used in 2023 in our state:

Although not the most popular names, trending names in 2023 included Izael, Chozen, Eiden, Cassian and Kyren for boys and Kaeli, Alitzel, Emryn, Adhara and Azari for girls, according to the report.
