Perry Hall Giant Honored For Student Shooting Response

The grocery store distributed water to displaced students along Ebenezer Road.

After two shots were fire inside Perry Hall High School's cafeteria, seriously injuring one student, hundreds of evacuated students were left along Ebenezer Road with no where else to go.

It was Aug. 27, and the day grew hotter into the afternoon.

As students gathered into Perry Hall Square Shopping Center and the new Giant, which had just opened days earlier, grocery store management began distributing dozens of free water bottles.

County Councilman David Marks, on Feb. 1, recognized store management for their service, his office announced in an email.

"This is a long overdue recognition," Marks said while presenting a Baltimore County Council resolution. "With little fanfare, Giant supermarket provided an important service on that very difficult day. I just wanted to say, 'thank you.'"
