Routine Perry Hall Traffic Stop Takes Dramatic Turn When Car Crashes Into House

Baltimore County police attempted to stop the car for a routine radar traffic stop when the driver jumped out of the moving car.

A suspect is in custody after bailing out of a moving car, which then crashed into a house, setting a fire on Belair Road in the Perry Hall area.

At 10:23 a.m. Thursday, a Baltimore County police officer attempted to make a radar traffic stop when the incident occurred, according to Baltimore County Police Department spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher.

The driver jumped out of the moving Jeep with Virginia license plates and the car crashed into the house at 9118 Belair Road, she said.

"Both the car and house caught fire," Rogers-Feher said. "An air unit was contacted, the guy was spotted and he's in custody."

The fire was minor and didn't spread, according to the spokeswoman, nor were there any reported injuries.

The suspect was being questioned by police as of Thursday afternoon.
