Arlington Accepting Applications For Marijuana Host Agreements
Last year, the Select Board awarded two Host Community Agreements toward its three available licenses.
ARLINGTON, MA — The Select Board is accepting 2020 applications for Host Community Agreements for marijuana shops in Arlington. Last year, the Board awarded two HCAs toward a maximum of three licenses for marijuana establishments from the Special Permit Authority.
Marijuana shops looking to open in Arlington are required to enter into a Host Community Agreement as a condition of state licensure. The scope of host agreements varies by community and considers differences in municipal structure and where and how local permitting and licensing has been vested in each community.

• Relocation notice, terms and requirements;
• Prioritizing local residents for jobs created at the establishment;
• Termination conditions and/or requirements for ceasing to operate, or relocating
outside of the municipality;
• Security system minimum requirements for accessing the establishment and
marijuana inventories;
• Providing police details for the purposes of traffic and crowd management during
peak hours of operation;
• Obligations of municipalities to submit requested and required information to the
CCC;
• Provision for cooperation on municipality-sponsored public health and drug abuse
prevention educational programs; and
• Agreement for cooperation with community support, public outreach and
employee outreach programs between the municipality and the establishment
Complete applications are due to the Office of the Select Board by mail and electronically (to the addresses listed in the application) no later than noon on Friday May 15. After reviewing applications the Select Board will afford applicants the opportunity to make presentations at an open meeting of the Select Board.
