Police: Man Wearing CO2 BB Gun in Shoulder Holster Arrested; Tracking Device on Cellphone Leads Officers to Suspect

ARLINGTON, MA - Arrest information provided by Arlington Police. These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
Jan. 7
At 5L20 p.m., warrant arrest on Broadway. Nicholas J. Pappas, 22, address listed as homeless, arrested sitting inside a business. Officers informed him that a warrant for his arrest had been issued that morning out of Cambridge District Court. He is charged with check forgery.

Officers noticed that Pappas was wearing a CO2 BB gun in a shoulder holster. Pappas told them he uses the BB gun for his own protection, according to the arrest report. The BB gun did not have any coloring on the tip of the muzzle to indicate that it was not a real firearm. He arrested without incident.

At 12:29 a.m., arrest for receiving stolen property over $250. Paul E. Phaneuf, 51, of Arlington, arrested for receiving stolen property over $250. Lexington Police notified Arlington Police that there had a break and enter into a house on Fuller Road in Lexington, where the victims were sleeping at the time. An iPad, iPhones and a number of other items were taken from the home.
Tracking software on the devices was on, according to the report, and alerted the owners. Arlington Police were able to successfully track the phones, and were able to locate the suspect slightly more than a mile from where the house break occurred.
