8 Displaced, Multiple Firefighters Injured In Malden Blaze

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire coming from the attic.

MALDEN, MA — Eight people were displaced and multiple firefighters were injured in a blaze Saturday, authorities said.

The Malden Fire Department responded around 4:45 a.m. to multiple 911 calls reporting a house fire on Wyoming Avenue, according to the agency, which reported firefighters found heavy fire coming from the attic.

The blaze had spread from the second floor to the third, and it eventually went through the roof, authorities said, adding agencies from Medford, Lynn, Revere and Everett assisted.

Multiple firefighters suffered minor injuries, authorities said.

The eight occupants of the home were safely evacuated before firefighters arrived and were assisted by the Malden Emergency Management Department and the American Red Cross, according to the fire department.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation, authorities said.
