Former Malden Resident Gets 18 Months For Weapons Trafficking
A Brazilian national known as Neneco illegally sold two semi-automatic firearms and ammunition while living in Malden, authorities said.
MALDEN, MA — A Brazilian national who lived in Malden was sentenced Monday for firearms and immigration offenses, the U.S. Attorney's office said. Vanderlei Rodrigues DeAraujo, 43, known as Neneco, received 18 months in prison and two years of supervised release.
DeAraujo will be deported to Brazil upon completion of his sentence. He pleaded guilty Sept. 30 to one count of dealing in firearms without a license, two counts of being an alien in possession of a firearm and ammunition and one count of illegal reentry of a previously deported alien.
On Aug. 11, 2011, DeAraujo was deported to Brazil after he was determined to be in the Ucountry illegally, the USAO said. Sometime after his removal, DeAraujo illegally reentered the United States and sold two semi-automatic firearms and ammunition between Sept. 6, 2018 and Jan. 28, 2019, federal authorities said.

DeAraujo was arrested on May 29, 2019 and has been in federal custody since.
