Malden Secures 2 Grants For Roadway Redesign And Small Businesses
Governor Maura Healey announced the grants for numerous communities throughout the state next week.

MALDEN, MA — The city announced it has received two state grants that will go toward improving important components such as road infrastructure and small businesses.
The MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant, worth $460,000, is meant to fund a study of Commercial Street to determine the best way to redesign it. Improvements to sidewalks, intersections, traffic signals, lighting, and new tree plantings will all be focuses of the study according to the city.
The second grant is from the Massachusetts Vacant Storefront Program worth $50,000. The funds can be used as refundable tax credits given to small business owners who move their companies into vacant storefronts in Malden.
