Malden Speaks Out On Trash Collection Strike
The city has had to delay the service as negotiations continue for sanitation workers.
MALDEN, MA — The city announced that trash and recycling pickup will not take place citywide on Tuesday, July 1.
The one-day cancellation of the service is due to failed contract negotiations between Malden’s trash pickup vendor Republic Services and Teamsters Local 25 Union which represents its workers.
Sanitation workers went on strike late Monday, leading to delays in more than a dozen municipalities in the Boston area.
“The current plan is to resume collection on Wednesday, July 2, with a one-day delay for the remainder of the week. We will continue to keep Malden residents informed as more information becomes available,” the city said in a statement.
