Malden Superintendent Receives Contract Extension

MALDEN, MA — Superintendent of Schools Dr. Timothy Sippel received a contract extension after a vote from the School Committee this week.

The two-year extension adds onto Sippel’s existing contract, setting him up to remain in the position through June 2029.

The Ohio native holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service and a Certificate in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University. He earned a Master of Education from the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed his Doctorate of Education Leadership at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2020.

Before being hired to lead the district last year, Sippel was Executive Director of Schools in Worcester Public Schools, responsible for overseeing 13 elementary and secondary schools in a district that educates more than 24,000 students.

“My team is deeply committed to doing right by all students, embracing the capacity of every individual to grow, and leading our work in an inclusive and collaborative way,” Sippel said in response to being extended. “The students of the Malden Public Schools deserve nothing less.”
