• Malden Firefighters Make Frozen Pond Rescue (patch.com) — A teenager was pulled from Fellesmere Pond in Malden after falling through thin ice, with firefighters reaching her in under 30 seconds. She was taken to a Boston hospital as a precaution and was conscious and alert. Malden fire officials are using the incident to warn residents to stay off frozen ponds that may not be safely frozen yet.

The center now shelters 45 adults nightly with food, beds, and support services through April 12, 2026, giving Malden residents a concrete way to help vulnerable neighbors across Metro North this winter.
